FREAKS, GEEKS, AND THE GAME OF THE WEEK - WEEK 8

FREAKS - SLEEPER STARTS AND OVERACHIEVERS

QUARTERBACKS

Sleeper: Blake Bortles /JAC

It is going to be a cold and snowy game in Cleveland today. This would lead you to believe that this game has Leonard Fournette's name written all over it. You would be wrong. Fournette is dealing with an ankle injury and might not play. Even if he does, he will won't be 100% and the Browns have the third best run defense in the league. Jags will win a closer game than you would expect and Bortles will throw for 2 TDs and approximately 250 yards.

Other QB sleepers:  Blaine Gabbert / ARI; Derek Carr / OAK; Ryan Fitzpatrick / TB

Freak: Carson Wentz / PHI

Wentz has thrown together a MVP caliber season so far this year. That campaign continues Sunday night. Wentz has gone over 20 fantasy points in each of his past 5 games. The Eagles are going to put the Cowboys on notice that they are the class of the NFC East and will do so on Wentz's arm as he eclipses 20 fantasy points in his 6th straight game.

RUNNING BACKS

Sleeper: Doug Martin  / TB

Martin has been BAD this year. He has rushed for only 2 touchdowns and for over 70 yards twice. Martin is only averaging 3.28 ypc. On the bright side, outside of his Week 9 shit show, Martin has 14 or more touches in every game this season.

A heavy workload should be enough to push Martin over the edge in a matchup against a Dolphins team that let Jonathon Stewart rush for 110 yards in Week 10, Marshawn Lynch rush for 57 yards and 2 TDs in Week 9, and Alex Collins for 113 yards in Week 8. Martin should eclipse the 70 yard mark and get into the end zone again.

Other RB Sleeper Starts: Isaiah Crowell  / CLE Matt Forte / NYJ

Freak: Kareem Hunt / KC

On paper, it looks like the Giants / Chiefs game should break for Alex Smith and the Chiefs passing game. I see it a different way. The NY Giants have all but quit on this season. When the Chiefs get up early, Hunt gets a boat load of work and he eats.

FREAK: LESEAN MCCOY / BUF

Oh Tyrod. You were hosed. You can't blame a man when you give him no viable weapons to throw the ball to. He got a raw deal and will get a nice deal to play somewhere other than Buffalo after this season. In the meantime, the Bills are starting a Rookie QB against one of the worst run Ds in the league. This will be a McCoy game through and through.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Bruce Ellington /HOu

No Will Fuller? Check. Patrick Peterson shadowing Hopkins? Check. Houston will have to throw the ball to someone, and Ellington should be that guy. Ellington has seen 8 targets in each of his past 2 games and he will be in line for another healthy serving in Week 11 too.

Other WR Sleepers: Jamison Crowder / WAS

Freak: Sterling Shepard /NYG

The Giants have two passing options: Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram. That is it. In his two games since returning from injury, Shepard has 16 catches for 212 yards on 22 targets. Giants will be playing from behind, and the Chief's pass D (outside of Marcus Peters) is awful.

TIGHT ENDS

Freak: Travis Kelce / KC

The Giants have been so bad against TEs this season that it is hard to articulate just how bad they have been. They are allowing TEs to average 19.4 fantasy points per game and have allowed the opposing TE to score a TD in each of the last 10 games.

Sleeper TE Starts: Tyler Kroft / CIN

GEEKS - BUST STARTS AND UNDERACHIEVERS

QUARTERBACKS

Dak Prescott / DAL

Philly's pass D has been lacking, but their front 7 are vicious. If Tyron Smith is out, I worry that Dak will have a hard time staying off his backside in this game. He will be running for his life more often than not.

RUNNING BACKS

The DALLAS COWBOYS BACKFIELD

The Eagles run D is stupid good. We are entering Week 11 and the Eagles are only allowing 66 yards per game and have only let one RB rush for over 40 yards, and that was Kareem Hunt in Week 2. Add Tyron Smith's injury to the list and whoever totes the ball for the 'Boys on Sunday will find tough sledding.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Jordy Nelson / GB

Oh Jordy, Jordy, Jordy. How the mighty have fallen. In the three games since Aaron Rodgers injury, Jordy Nelson has 6 fantasy points. The thing that made Nelson so great with Rodgers was their chemistry. He does not have that with Hundley and it is crippling his fantasy value.

TIGHT ENDs

Charles Clay / Buf

The Bills trotted Clay out one week to early in Week 10. I was actually excited to start plugging Clay back into fantasy lineups again. Then the Bills dumped Tyrod and plugged in Peterman. Not only does Clay have a rookie tossing him the ball, but he is matched up against a Chargers' team that has only allowed one TE to score on them - Gronk.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Washington Redskins at New Orleans Saints

Kirk Cousins finally played behind a healthy offensive line and he dropped over 300 yards and 3 total TDs against the Vikings. While it would seem that a Saints D that has stymied QBs as of late, most of that work has been done against sub-par talent. The Saints are for real though, and I am looking forward to watching a shoot out in the Bayou.
