THE CIRCUS CONSENSUS TOP 10 QUARTERBACKS
1. AARON RODGERS - GB
Since he took over the starting job for the Packers in 2008, Rodgers has finished in the Top 10 for QBs in every season he started at least 10 games, has had four #1 finishes, two #2 finishes, and one #3 finish. He is the best QB in the league and should be the first QB taken in every draft this year.
2. RUSSELL WILSON - SEA
Russell finished as the best fantasy QB last year and has been a Top 3 QB in 3 of the past 4 . He is a rare talent on the ground and in the air and while Rodgers and Wilson are our top tier QBs, there is a drop off from the GOAT (Yeah, I said it) to him.
3. TOM BRADY - NE
Tom Brady is currently in a heated tortoise and the hare style race with Father Time. When he finally loses, and he will because everyone loses that race, is anyone's guess. I think we see a drop off from Brady this year, but nothing quite like Peyton Manning's cliff dive from the #4 QB in 2014 to the #31 QB in 2015. Yikes.
4. DREW BREES - NO
Brees currently has an ADP of the QB7 and is being selected 21 picks after the guy I am about to discuss next. This is insane to me. Since joining the Saints in 2004, Brees has finished as a Top 10 QB every. single. season. During that run, Brees was a Top 5 QB eight time and the #1 overall QB twice. I know he is in the same race against Father Time as Brady, but between the two, I am targeting Brees this season.
5. DESHAUN WATSON - HOU
Five games. That is it. Five games. Sure, they were a spectacular five games, but hell, Blake Bortles had a pretty impressive five game run to close out the year last season too and I know you aren't drooling over him. Watson's ADP currently has him as the #2 overall QB behind Rodgers with an early- to mid-fourth round price tag. He is coming off of his second ACL surgery and had a TD rate of over 9% last season. Tom Brady's is 5.5% in his career. That number is going to come crashing down. Do not pay for Watson's price tag.
6. CAM NEWTON - CAR
The Panthers remembered they are a better team with Newton running the ball in 2017. Thank God because if he was just an arm in the NFL, I wouldn't be touching him.
7. CARSON WENTZ - PHI
Wentz had a remarkable season last year before his injury. He is one we are going to keep an eye on as it gets closer to the start of the season.
8. KIRK COUSINS - MIN
Cousins should give you QB1 value with little risk. He has better weapons to play with in Minnesota than he did in Washington.
9. MATTHEW STAFFORD - DET
I know what you are thinking: "I don't want Matthew Stafford on my team, he is boring af." I get it. We all get it. But, if you took high upside risks at RB and WR and need a stable QB, you could do much worse than Stafford. Plus, all that reliable production comes at a pretty steep discount.
10. ANDREW LUCK - IND
Oh Andrew, Andrew, Andrew. We are glad to see you are throwing a football again. Oh how we wish we could see more from you like your incredible 2014 season, but we aren't holding our breath. Yet.
